LG - A Bit About Them

LG merged from two Korean companies, Lucky and Goldstar. It was way back in 1947 that Goldstar was created as an appliance company, under this brand name thousands upon thousands of electrical goods were sold. They were to later merge with the then chemical company Lucky and between them produced household appliances for South Korea.

They renamed the brand to LG in 1995. It was called this as it was abbreviation for the words Lucky and Goldstar. The company slogan devised a little later "Lifes Good" also emerged from these two company names.

LG was founded back in 1958 were its headquartes are in Seul, South Kora. In 1995, GoldStar was renamed LG Electronics, and acquired Zenith Electronics of the United States. LG Electronics, Inc., is a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics, home appliances, and mobile communications, employing more than 82,000 people in more than 120 operations including 80 subsidiaries around the world.

More recently, in 2001 LG has jointed objectives with Royal Philips Electronics, LG Philips Display and LG Philips LCD. today they proudly boast to be the worlds largest creator of Plasma Panels. With LG Philips LCD it is also a major player in the Liquid crystal displays for televisions market.
